I’m thrilled to share some very good news with our community: last week, we officially launched the Social Good DPro, a brand-new project management guide designed specifically for those working to create positive social change in urban settings and developed countries.

This new guide builds on the solid foundation of Project DPro, our globally recognized guide for project management in the development and humanitarian sectors. While the two guides share the same core principles, processes, tools, and life cycle model, Social Good DPro has been carefully adapted to reflect the unique challenges and contexts of grassroots initiatives, social enterprises, local nonprofits, and mission-driven teams operating in more institutional and urban environments.

Why Social Good?

At its heart, social good is about doing work that benefits society: work that strengthens communities, reduces inequalities, supports the environment, and uplifts those who are too often left behind. Whether through social enterprises, nonprofit programs, advocacy campaigns, or volunteer-led initiatives, thousands of people are taking action every day to make the world better. The Social Good DPro is designed to help them do that work more effectively, more sustainably, and with greater impact.

This guide was created not only for project managers, but for anyone involved in a project—volunteers, coordinators, founders, communications officers, and community leaders. Many small or emerging organizations don’t have the resources for a full-time project manager. In fact, in many cases, project management only comes into focus once funding is secured—and even then, the tools and guidance may be missing. That’s where this guide steps in: to provide accessible, practical support for teams that are building impact from the ground up.

What Makes This Guide Different?

Social Good DPro retains the strengths of Project DPro – structured planning, accountability, decision gates, and a clear project life cycle – while adding adaptable language, relatable examples, and a tone of inclusion and empowerment. It speaks directly to teams working in complex social environments, where the ability to pivot, collaborate, and stay grounded in values is just as important as delivering outputs on time and on budget.

And there’s more: the Social Good DPro Certification is coming!

Certified individuals signal to donors, employers, and peers that they possess the skills to manage projects with professionalism and purpose. For organizations, having certified team members can increase the chances of proposal approval, donor trust, and long-term funding. In today’s funding landscape, accountability and clarity are non-negotiable. Donors want to know that their investment is being managed effectively—and project management is what turns resources into results.

Built on a Strong Foundation

We owe a great deal to the Project DPro community, whose contributions, lessons, and dedication laid the groundwork for this new guide. Social Good DPro would not exist without the foundational work of those who shaped and sustained Project DPro over the past decade.

Social Good DPro is more than just an adaptation of Project DPro. It responds to a new context and set of challenges. It supplements and complements Project DPro, offering another powerful set of tools and resources within the DPro Family, expanding our collective ability to manage projects for impact across a broader range of settings.

Let’s make the world better, managing change for social good.
